Arrest made in New Jersey hit-and-run car accident

There are a variety of different ways to utilize New Jersey roadways lawfully that do not involve a traditional motor vehicle. As a car accident involving cars and trucks and less traditional users — such as pedestrians and bicyclists — can result in serious injuries, motorists must remain vigilant at all times. Unfortunately, police say that a recent incident resulted in a fatality.

The incident reportedly happened late one evening on a day in late September. According to reports, a vehicle struck a 54-year-old man. Unfortunately, the man reportedly passed away after he was transported to the hospital.

Police say that the driver involved in the collision did not remain at the scene. However, with the use of surveillance footage, they were able identify the type of vehicle that allegedly struck the pedestrian. After posting images of the vehicle believed to have been involved on social media, police were able to make an arrest. He now faces a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision.

While the man allegedly involved in the car accident now faces criminal charges, a family in New Jersey is still likely left recovering from the devastating, unexpected loss of their family member. The unfortunate reality for most families facing the loss of a loved one is that both the emotional and financial ramifications of such an event can create a difficult situation. As such, the deceased man’s surviving family members may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver allegedly involved in their loved one’s death.
