When most people visit a government building, they expect to complete their errand with relatively little excitement. However, that does not appear to be the case for multiple people visiting a Social Security office in New Jersey. Reports indicate that over 20 people suffered a personal injury when a driver crashed her car into the building.
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. on a day in mid-November. Witnesses reported hearing a sound like a bomb before seeing a car “barreling” through a wall and hitting several people. One man claims to have pulled a woman out from under the vehicle; that woman was apparently bleeding from her head and mouth. Over 20 people were ultimately transported to the hospital as a result of injuries suffered in the incident.
Police believe that the incident was an accident. Reports claim that the 56-year-old driver was attempting to park the car when she accelerated across the sidewalk before slamming into the building. The incident remains under investigation; the town building inspector has reportedly determined that the building is safe.
