When a person’s death is unsolved, the community, understandably, has questions and concerns. As such, police in New Jersey and across the country may be especially motivated to find someone to charge with a crime, regardless of the evidence that may support their allegations. Unfortunately, blaming an innocent person of murder will not result in justice.
In fact, there are many questions that still remain following the death of a 26-year-old woman and the subsequent arrest of her 30-year-old co-worker. Co-workers of the woman say that she never returned to work after she went home for lunch. Their concern led them to contact police to check on her.
Reports claim that the man now accused of her murder went on lunch break at the same time, notifying his supervisor that he would be late returning because he needed to have work performed on his car. However, police believe that he instead went to the woman’s apartment where he stabbed her to death. The man was reportedly arrested after DNA found under the woman’s fingernails could not be excluded as a match. Information regarding a possible motive has not been released.
The man now faces a charge of first-degree murder in addition to a weapons charge. Despite the charges, law enforcement officials in New Jersey say that the incident remains under investigation and are asking anyone with information to come forward. The woman’s death is a tragedy and deserves justice. However, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt for a person to be convicted of a crime.
