Even the drivers who are most committed to following all traffic safety recommendations can become involved in motor vehicle accidents. Unfortunately, those who do not do so may be even more likely to cause a crash with significant consequences. In fact, police in New Jersey believe that alcohol was involved in a fatal accident that resulted in an arrest.

The accident happened on a day in September. According to reports, a 42-year-old woman was driving on a New Jersey road when she allegedly ran a red light. As a result, her vehicle is said to have struck a sedan driven by an 80-year-old man.

Unfortunately, the male driver died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. Additionally, a passenger in the deceased man’s vehicle, a 47-year-old man, was injured and taken to the hospital. It is unclear if the driver of the first vehicle was injured in the crash.

As a result of the fatal accident, the female driver was recently arrested on multiple charges, including assault by auto and vehicular homicide. She faces additional summonses for reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to observe a red traffic signal. It appears that law enforcement officials believe that the woman’s accident led to one man’s death and another man’s injuries. In addition to the physical and emotional implications of such an incident, victims — including surviving family members in the event of a fatality — face financial complications as well. As a result, New Jersey victims often choose to seek recompense by filing a personal injury lawsuit in a civil court.
