It might be easy to become complacent while driving. Unfortunately, such complacency can cause a driver to be less diligent, potentially causing a car accident. In fact, a woman in New Jersey was transported to the hospital following a recent crash.
The incident happened just before 6:30 a.m. on a day in mid-December. Reports claim that a 47-year-old male was driving a sports utility vehicle in the northbound lanes of a New Jersey roadway at the time of the accident. The man allegedly made a “fast lane change,” moving from the middle lane to the left lane. Unfortunately, he reportedly struck a vehicle in the left lane when doing so.
The second vehicle was forced into the divider, causing it to overturn. The driver, a 62-year-old woman, was trapped inside. Rescue workers were able to extricate her by cutting the roof off of her vehicle; she was transported to the hospital for treatment but is expected to recover. The accident caused traffic delays for several hours. The accident caused lane closures for approximately two hours after the accident happened.
While the exact extent of the woman’s injuries are unclear, even relatively minor injuries can result in serious financial consequences. Medical expenses in combination with lost wages can quickly create a precarious situation. As a result, some people in New Jersey who were injured in a car accident as a result of another’s negligence choose to seek file a personal injury lawsuit against the parties deemed responsible. A successfully presented case could result in a financial award that will help ensure that victims are able to fulfil their financial responsibilities even while recovering from their injuries.
